Earlsdon Primary School was awarded a Platinum ArtsMark in December 2023.
Here is the feedback from the assessors at the Arts Council:
You've achieved an Artsmark Platinum Award!
We are delighted to inform you that your setting has been awarded an Artsmark Platinum Award. Congratulations!
Your Statement of Commitment and Statement of Impact have been assessed and we’re pleased to share this feedback from our assessors with you:
'It is evident from your documentation that there is strong, purposeful and reflective leadership of the arts at Earlsdon Primary, and a firm commitment to promoting them and increasing children’s cultural capital within your setting. You recognise the important contribution of the arts to children’s emotional well-being, confidence and resilience, and this has been an important aspect of your Artsmark journey, particularly as part of your post-pandemic recovery curriculum. Some of your plans were inevitably stymied by Covid, but we commend your commitment to continuing to offer the children opportunities to participate in interactive, online arts experiences and to showcase their work throughout the pandemic as part of your remote learning offer. You have been successful in using this first Artsmark journey to review your whole school planning and to establish a new whole-school cross curricular system, with the creative arts at the heart. Pupils have benefited from a diverse and inspiring offer of enhancement and extra-curricular arts projects, working with an impressive array of arts and culture professional partners. Coventry’s recent status as City of Culture has afforded children further opportunities to work with arts and culture professionals, and be introduced to new forms of art and to collaborate in large-scale showcases. Sketch books are now used by children to reflect on their learning, chart their progress over time, and to support their consolidation of prior learning and across other subjects. It is really good to hear about how you are promoting STEAM, and engaging students jointly in science and art, supported by your partnership with the University of Warwick and the Imagineering project. Pupils’ understanding of important local, national and global issues, such as climate change and displacement, have been deepened through links with schools in other countries and connections with Schools of Sanctuary. Clearly, staff listen to and value the views of pupils through their various junior leadership roles in school. Your long-standing, strong links with arts and culture organisations have facilitated excellent opportunities for continuing professional development, and helped to develop your middle and senior leaders’ skills, resulting in critical acclaim – congratulations! Going forwards, you are in a strong position to continue to champion the arts and find new ways to grow your sphere of influence and evidence the difference this is making in other settings. We look forward greatly to hearing about where your next Artsmark journey takes you.'
Congratulations on your Artsmark Platinum Award!
