Earlsdon Primary School

In response to new government guidance we are currently
reviewing our Attendance Policy. The new guidance stresses
the importance of good attendance for all children to support their attainment, wellbeing and wider life chances.
When a child’s attendance falls below 90% this is a cause for
concern for schools and local authorities– 10% absence
equates to a child being absent for 1 day or more a fortnight
across a full school year. Please note that the new DfE guidance also states that leave of absence should only be granted in exceptional circumstances, and as such, in line with our current Attendance Policy, leave of absence will not be granted for the purpose of a family holiday. (Each application for leave of absence will beconsidered individually.)
Please continue to contact school if your child is ill and unable
to attend on a specific day. In line with our safeguarding procedures, we will contact families and carry out home visits if
we do not know why a child is absent from school.
Thank you for your ongoing support in securing good school
attendance for your child/ children.
