  • Coventry Schools’ Arts Week 23 – 28 June Update

    We are looking forward to taking part in many activities during Coventry Arts Week. Throughout the week we will have a focus on creative learning. Each day will start with a focus on a different composer. Children will also be learning the “Sing Up” song ready to perform to parents in the playground on Friday 27th June in the afternoon.

     

    We have submitted art work that we hope will be selected for the Coventry Schools’ Art Exhibition at The Herbert. This will be on display during the week and over the summer.

     

    We will be planning more events over the coming few weeks, but here are some of the key dates.

     

     

    Monday 23rd June

    Year : R, 1 and 2 Art workshops with Katie O to design painted stones.

     

    Painted stones to be hidden at the War Memorial Park. Volunteers needed on Friday to help hide the stones!#

     

    Monday 23rd June

    Year : 1,2,3,4, 5,6 Birmingham Symphony Orchestra online performance of The Wizard of Oz. In school.

     

    Tuesday 24th June

    Year : 4 Ukulele performance at Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre Unfortunately parents are not able to attend.

     

    Tuesday 24th June

    Year: 5,6 RAF Creative STEM Day in school

     

    Tuesday 24th June

    Year 5 Singing performance at Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre Parents are invited to attend.

     

    Link to buy tickets has been sent.

     

    Wednesday 25th June

    Year: 3 Pupils to work with Ascension Dance and perform in community

     

    Thursday 26th June

    Year: 5,6 Motion house circus skills workshops and sessions linked to creative careers at the Albany Theatre

     

    Thursday 26th June

    Year : 4 Group of pupils to visit Baginton Fields School for art project

     

    Friday 27th June 4

    Lady Godiva the Musical. We will be joining with over 750 children to perform in Broadgate. There will be a finale with dance artists from the Royal Opera House. All parents are welcome to watch this outdoor public performance at 11am.

     

    Friday 27th June

    Year : R,1,2,3,4, 5,6 Performance in our playground of the Sing Up song All parents are invited to join us on the playground at 3pm.

     

    Saturday

    28th June

    Everyone! The Festival Booknic at the War Memorial Park 11am – 3pm. Please arrive at 10.45am next to the play park for the festival parade. Bring a picnic and enjoy many free events including a giant book swap (bring a book to swap!); skateboarding; author workshops; tennis; quizzes; music

  • Visit to Spain

    Ten of our pupils travelled with forty other Coventry students to Almeria, Spain last week to learn about biodiversity, sustainability and horticulture. All pupils had a fantastic time and had a very busy week. They will be doing a presentation at school about what they learnt.

  • Staffing Update

    We are delighted to inform you that, following a rigorous recruitment process, the Governing Board have appointed Mrs Emma O'Toole as the new Deputy Headteacher. Mrs O'Toole is an experienced primary school senior leader and she is looking forward to joining the staff team and getting to know children and families when she takes up her new role at Earlsdon in September.

  • Refugee Week

    We will be supporting Refugee Week in school next week; the theme for Refugee Week 2025 is “Community as a Superpower.” The children will be engaged in a range of activities to develop their understanding as well as some fundraising to raise awareness and to support local charities. We will be selling a selection of items including orange hearts, wristbands and keyrings at playtimes and lunchtimes next week and money collected will be split between Stories of Hope and Home and Schools of Sanctuary. Items range from 20p - £1.00. In addition, we will be collecting donations of rice, pasta, tea, coffee, breakfast cereal, long life milk, jam, tuna or biscuits for World Foods Food Hub (Carriers of Hope). There will be boxes in the office reception area for donations to be collected from Monday 16th June to Friday 20th June. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

  • PTA pop up

    Thank you to the PTA for organising and running the very popular Fathers Day pop up shop this week. The children loved shopping for their special adults and we hope everyone has a great day on Sunday and enjoys their specially chosen gifts.

  • Every Day energy

    We are delighted to let you know that we have been selected as a runner-up in a national competition with a focus on sustainability. Year 5 submitted some outstanding work which was highly commended and the judges said, "Their passion for the planet and positive energy was clear." We have won £500 which will go towards a community kitchen in school, helping us to teach children about how to cook allotment produce.

  • Arts Festival

    We hope to see lots of families at the Arts Week Festival Booknic on Saturday 28th June. Please bring your children to take part in the parade at 11am and then stay for a picnic and many free activities. Earlsdon Primary School have taken a lead role in organising this city-wide event and we would love to see you there! Please let Mrs Bollands know if you are able to volunteer at the event

  • Piano Lessons

    There are new places available for piano les?sons at school this term for children in Year 1 and above. Please get in touch if you would like to sign your child up to start, and for more information.

  • Educational Visit

    A small group of children from Year 4 and Year 5 have joined with pupils from another local primary school and secondary school to visit Spain to learn about the impact of climate on crops and to learn Spanish and about the Spanish culture. They travelled to Spain last Sunday and are due to return today. We are looking forward to a more detailed update from them next week, but are thrilled that they have enjoyed a range of activities including spending the day in a partner Spanish school and visiting a farm and the ‘Sea of Greenhouses’. A huge thank you to the staff who organised this visit and gave up their time to accompa?ny the children to Spain.

  • Coventry Arts Week

    We are very pleased to be taking part in Coventry Arts Week. We will be participating in a number of city-wide opportunities as well as taking part in opportunities offered by some of our local partners. Please look out for a separate letter providing more information.

    Activities will include:

    • Art workshops with Katie O

    • Year 4 ukulele concert at Butterworth Hall

    • Year 5 singing concert at Butterworth Hall

    • Motionhouse circus skills workshops

    • Participation in city centre outdoor performance of Lady Godiva the Musical

    • Workshops with Ascension Dance

    • City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on-line workshops

     

    One of the highlights of the week will be the Festival Booknic (reading picnic) that will take place on Saturday 28th June from 11am - 3pm in the War Memorial Park. We are hoping that as many families as possible will join us there. There will be a schools' parade starting at 11.15am and we welcome all our children to join in with this. After this there will be a wide selection of free activities including author and illustrator workshops, a giant book swap, circus skills, tennis, skateboarding workshops and much more.
