We have been very impressed with children’s participation in our Science Fair project and we have seen some fantastic independent research. We are looking forward to exhibiting the children’s work in Earlsdon Library on Wednesday 22 April. Parents are welcome to come to the library to view the
work between 9.15 and 9.45am. Children will then
present their work to the judges throughout the day.
Please remember that all projects must be in school on Monday and should be clearly named.
We are very grateful to Amazon who we have recently
partnered with. They have been supplying the school with
resources including notebooks and pens to help with
writing initiatives, prizes for the science fair and sports
equipment. They have very generously sponsored our
participation in the Schools’ London Marathon.
During the Easter holiday they sent a team of volunteers
who did a fantastic job of clearing the front garden and
painting the school gates. They will also be supporting us
at the May Day Festival. Thank you!
Welcome back to another busy and exciting term!
We were delighted to feature on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire this week as they put a spotlight on how we use produce from our allotment in our school meals. This
followed news that there is going to be a drive to improve school dinners nationally. We have had much positive feedback about our approach to healthy eating.
It is only a couple of weeks until the May Bank Holiday (4th May) when we traditionally open our playground for
a range of free sports tasters, allotment and PTA stalls and craft activities. If you are able to volunteer on this
day, even for half an hour, please let the office staff know. The event will run from 10am—2.45pm. We will be continuing to develop our extensive programme of learning outside the classroom. This includes 3W taking part in a Shakespeare performance at The Belgrade; Year 4 visiting Cadbury World; Year 5 going on a residential visit to Rough Close; children attending a singing workshop at King Henry’s; Reception going to Hoar Farm; pupils going on a sustainability visit to Spain and much more!
Year 2 had an extremely interesting visit to Mary Arden’s Farm in Stratford-Upon –Avon. They learned about what life was like in Shakespeare’s time and they had chance to take part in some drama. All children were excellent representatives of the school and we received brilliant feed back from the venue and also the coach company!
Reception enjoyed a visit to the church this week to learn about the Easter story as part of their Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Thank you for Penny from the Methodist Church for leading the session and welcoming the children and staff.
Our Year 2 gymnastics team attended the Coventry West Year 2 Gymnastic Competition at The Tribe Gymnastics Centre this week. All children were fantastic and impressed the judges with their agility.
We are not allowed to authorise holidays/extended absence during term time. We have been advised by the Local Authority that due to the high level of holidays/extended breaks being taken in term time, they will be applying fines for this time off school. We are pleased to let you know that in 2027 we have created an extended summer half term for families by scheduling three of our training days immediately before the summer half term break. This means that the summer half term will be from 26 May— 6 June 2027. Please note that this applies to next year. Any families looking to have an extended break outside the main summer holiday, will be able to use this period of time.
