Well done to the team of children from across the school who completed the Children’s Mile at Memorial Park on Sunday.
The children all ran well, were incredibly resilient and represented our school exceptionally well. Thank you to all of the parents and families who supported the children at this event.
We are delighted to announce that we are the Bronze Winner in the category of Primary School of the Year in the Pearson National Teaching Awards. This huge achievement is due to the dedication and hard work of all the staff, the engagement of the children, and the amazing support from our families and wider community. We celebrated this with a very special whole school assembly at which the children presented staff with plants that they had grown especially for them. |
As a School of Sanctuary, we are proud to show our support for
Refugee Week 2023. This year the theme is 'Compassion' and our aim is to make sure all children understand what this looks like in action, to ensure that we are extending it widely to all. During the week, the children spent time looking at different sanctuary themed books and responded through discussion, music, art, poetry or dance. To spread compassion within our school community our Welcome Committee hosted a coffee morning for newly arrived families and within our local community by making 'Welcome to Coventry' packs for the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre. On Friday, the children showed their support by wearing something orange (inspired by the lifebelt) and donated money to be split between Carriers of Hope, CRMC and Schools of Sanctuary. Year 6 children also sold orange hearts, which represents hope, an image developed with refugee organisations and people who are refugees themselves. Thank you to all the families that donated recipes towards our 'Cook For Coventry' recipe book- we were so pleased with the
range and diversity of the recipes collected

thrilled to announce that they have secured the ECO award with
Merit. Thank you to the community for your continued support to help make us a greener school.
Well done to our Year 5 tennis team who represented the school last week at a School Games tennis tournament. They
played very well and came third overall, winning the bronze medal.
This is a great achievement.
Our Go Parks inclusive tennis sessions at 3.30pm on Tuesdays at
Spencer Park continue to be very popular. Thank you to our Changemakers for supporting with this. In other tennis news, we are delighted to have been given the opportunity to take a group of Year 4 pupils to Wimbledon this year
Next week we will be celebrating Refugee Week. On Friday 23rd June, the children are invited to come to school wearing something orange and donate whatever money you feel you can to support Schools of Sanctuary, Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre and Carriers of Hope. The children can wear an orange top, headband or socks for example– whatever they already have at home. Y6 children will also be selling handmade
orange heart decorations and badges during Wednesday– Friday lunchtimes, priced from 20p to £1. Thank you in advance for your support
