Congratulations to all pupils in Year 4 for taking part in the LTA Monster Smash tennis tournament. The children had to complete a wide range of tennis and boccia challenges. We were very impressed with their excellent sporting attitudes and fantastic tennis and boccia skills.
Well done to all of the children who contributed to our poppy display again this year– it looks beautiful. A huge thank you to the group of parents who worked creatively to put the display together and fund some of the materials for the silhouette of the solider. Thank you
We are delighted to have been selected to host a Coventry Peace Festival event this year. On Friday 12th November 10am - 12noon we will be opening our Peace Garden at the front of school to the wider community. Visitors will be invited to come into our garden and enjoy a moment of peace. Please note that we will be limiting the number of visitors to ensure everyone's safety.
In October, some pupils in Year 2 and Year 6 took part in a City of Culture design competition. Their brief was to design a shop window that reflected their hopes for the city in the future. We were thrilled to learn that Mili in Year 2 was the overall winner of the Key Stage 1 competition and that architects will be using her design to create a city centre shop window early next year. Many congratulations also to Lucy for coming second in the Key Stage 1 competition and to Elmas for coming second in the Key Stage 2 competition. We are very proud of the children for this fantastic achievement.

We are saying good bye to Miss Taylor this week as she has accepted a promotion and will be starting a new job working as Activities Coordinator at a local care home. Miss Taylor has supported our children for over 12 years and will be missed by everyone. She has enjoyed sharing her creative talents with the children as well as many opportunities for dressing up– most recently as Red Hiding Hood’s grandma! We wish her

Even if your child prefers a home packed lunch or
has a free lunch provided by school (as all Reception, Year 1 and 2 pupils receive meals through different funding) it is important that you register for Free School Meals if you are in receipt of the
agreed benefits. Please contact the school if you need any more information about this. School is allocated additional funding that can be spent on extra staff to support the children as well as providing financial support to families for school trips and other activities. Registering for FSM will also ensure that your family receive free school
meal support during school holidays– families in
receipt of FSM have received a supermarket
voucher for this October half term.
Please take the time to apply. Should you apply and
qualify, your child will still be able to have a home
packed lunch if they wish to do so and therefore do
not have to have free school meals in school.

We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor, Councillor John McNicholas, to our school last Friday to present the Peace Award. As you may remember, we were the first school in the city to be awarded the Peace Award last year as a result of the teaching of peace and reconciliation throughout our curriculum and the additional focus we have on well being and support in school. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions we have been unable to receive our award, so we were delighted that we could all gather together on the playground on Friday afternoon and welcome this important visitor to our school. The children sang beautifully and were proud ambassadors for our school – it was a super event for everyone and great that we couldall meet together outside in the sunshine
This week the children have supported the Together with Refugees cam paign. Inspired by the refugee nation flag and the colours of a lifebelt, they used orange hearts to symbolise hope and kindness. The children have written messages of welcome and support for refugees and considered how to show empathy and compassion. Over half-term these messages will come together to make one huge heart. Thank you for supporting our non-uniform day this week– we are delighted that with your generous donations we have been able to raise £496.53 which will go towards purchasing scooters for refugee children through Carriers of Hope. On Wednesday 27th October, Coventry welcomes Little Amal. After walking through the city, Little Amal will witness the first Children’s Citizenship Ceremony and Celebration. The children at school have been following her journey since September and during half term they may enjoy celebrating her arrival to our city
School will close for children on Thursday- 21st October, as Friday is a staff training day. School will then reopen on Monday 1st November after the half term holiday.
P.E lessons will continue on the same days next half term
and we would like to request that the children continue
to come to school wearing their P.E clothes. Thank you
for your support in ensuring that the children wear a P.E
kit in our school colours. This includes black, navy or grey
leggings/ tracksuit, a white or navy t-shirt and a black,
navy or grey sweatshirt. Please do not send the children
into school wearing clothing with large sports logos– a
navy school sweatshirt would be great. Thank you
Many children have enjoyed the after school sports clubs
this half term. The children in Year 2, Year 4 and Year 5
will have the opportunity to book onto the clubs for next
half term; more information will be sent to parents
shortly. Places will be allocated on a ‘first come, first
served’ basis so please book a place for your child when
you receive the email. Thank you.
