Well done to all the children who have performed in music assemblies over the past two weeks. It has been a real treat for the rest of the school to enjoy your performances. We know how much hard work and commitment you show in your music lessons
Some pupils from Year 4 had a very exciting day enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon on Wednesday. It was a great opportunity to watch tennis players from all around the world competing in this prestigious tournament.
We are looking forward to Sports Day for Years 1-6 on Wednesday 12th July in the morning. Parents are invited to join us at King Henry VIII's School on Spencer Road (carpark entrance). Pupils will take part in a range of sports activities led by Year 6, and they will also compete in one race. We request that parents do not take children away from the activities or races because staff need to ensure the safety of all children. Children should come to school in their PE kit and they will need a water bottle. Hats can be worn if we are lucky enough to have a sunny morning. At the end of the morning, staff will walk children back to school for lunch. We look forward to seeing you at our sports day on Wednesday
We have been celebrating National School Sports Week.
Mrs Howells has created a very popular sports-themed pop-up library. We have also had players in from Rugby Borough Football Club who provided some coaching and also enjoyed reading with the children
Well done to the team of children from across the school who completed the Children’s Mile at Memorial Park on Sunday.
The children all ran well, were incredibly resilient and represented our school exceptionally well. Thank you to all of the parents and families who supported the children at this event.
We are delighted to announce that we are the Bronze Winner in the category of Primary School of the Year in the Pearson National Teaching Awards. This huge achievement is due to the dedication and hard work of all the staff, the engagement of the children, and the amazing support from our families and wider community. We celebrated this with a very special whole school assembly at which the children presented staff with plants that they had grown especially for them.
As a School of Sanctuary, we are proud to show our support for
Refugee Week 2023. This year the theme is 'Compassion' and our aim is to make sure all children understand what this looks like in action, to ensure that we are extending it widely to all. During the week, the children spent time looking at different sanctuary themed books and responded through discussion, music, art, poetry or dance. To spread compassion within our school community our Welcome Committee hosted a coffee morning for newly arrived families and within our local community by making 'Welcome to Coventry' packs for the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre. On Friday, the children showed their support by wearing something orange (inspired by the lifebelt) and donated money to be split between Carriers of Hope, CRMC and Schools of Sanctuary. Year 6 children also sold orange hearts, which represents hope, an image developed with refugee organisations and people who are refugees themselves. Thank you to all the families that donated recipes towards our 'Cook For Coventry' recipe book- we were so pleased with the
range and diversity of the recipes collected
