| As we have several children in school with severe nut allergies, we would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to refrain from sending in snacks or lunch box foods which contain nuts. Thank you for your support |
We are taking part in the Go Parks Challenge. This city-wide initiative is to encourage children and families to be more active and to take advantage of the amazing parks we have. This challenge also encourages us to find out about the heritage of our city. To take part, you need to scan the QR codes that are displayed on signs at the designated locations. Take a look at the website Go Parks | Go Parks | Coventry City Council Every time you scan in, Earlsdon will be awarded 10 points. Go Parks will start on 1st October. Let's see if we can get to the top of the leader board!
Children acknowledged European Languages Day this year by thinking about what it means to be multilingual. We celebrated the different languages spoken, understood and learnt as a multilingual class.
On Friday 17th September, we were so lucky to have Zarah Sultana visit our school to speak to children in Year 6 about our Living Walls project. The children spoke passionately about climate change and shared their ideas on what matters to them as Tomorrow's Climate Scientists. Zarah was impressed with how knowledgeable and passionate the children were able to talk about the plants around school and in their classrooms.
We are looking to introduce living walls into other parts of the school, so any donations of indoor or outdoor plants would be gratefully received.
You may have noticed if you passed school over the summer
holidays, that we have had some work carried out our building
We were delighted to benefit from the LA’s energy efficiency
grant which has meant that the canteen flat roof has been recovered. In addition, at no cost to the school budget ,the grant
was used to replace all of the lighting in school!
We are now just waiting for the old light fittings and building
equipment to be removed from our site.
West Midlands Police and the Prevent Team, in partnership with the Coventry
Family Hubs will be delivering free internet safety workshops. They will share
guidance and strategies to help make the internet a safer experience for children. The workshop will be split into two 1 hour sessions and will be delivered
online via Microsoft Teams. Topics covered include: age appropriate apps,
safety settings, gaming, house rules and grooming. To book on to a workshop
parents will need a QR code which is included on the course specific flyer.
Please look out for this in a separate email
Thank you for your patience as we try to establish new routines whilst working within the guidance of the COVID
risk assessment.
From Monday the new reception children will be starting school full time, which means that there will be more
children and adults on our site at the end of the school day.
Morning routines
We will continue to open the gate at 8.40am so the children can wait on the path rather than on the street
outside school.
At 8.45am the children will start to go into school and parents should continue to walk around the school
building exiting through the car park. The gate will close at 9am.
Routines at the end of the day
At 3.05pm we will open the gate and ask parents of reception children to queue next to the school building.
Parents of Year 1 and Year 2 children should queue next to the school fence and collect their children from
the playground.
Children from Year 3– Year 5 should be collected from the playground at 3.15pm.
Please help us by collecting your child/ children and leaving the site promptly, following the one way system.
If you have collected a younger child and are waiting to collect a child from Key Stage 2, please stand close to
the school building so that the walkway around school remains as clear as possible.
We continue to follow the LA and Public Health England advice and ask that parents help to keep our school community safe by wearing a face covering on the school site. Thank you for your ongoing support.
We have had a super week in school and are thrilled with the way the children have settled into their new classrooms and enjoyed getting to know their new teachers and year group staff. Thank you for your support in preparing the children for their return to school– they all look very smart in their uniforms!
We are delighted to have welcomed some new staff to join our team this September including Rebecca Bollands
our new Deputy Headteacher and Sue Sperring our new School Business Manager. We have also welcomed Renu
Bir who has joined the lunchtime team and Bethany Stonehouse and Isabella Slane will be based at Earlsdon as
they train to teach through the Lion Alliance. We are looking forward to the year ahead
As you are aware from recent correspondence from school, the LA and Public Health England, we have been advised to have a cautious approach to the return to school and to keep several measures in place. We are thrilled
that the children can once again learn in classroom groups and use their cloakrooms but we are mainlining consistent groupings and the one way system in and around the building.
Face coverings: We have been advised to recommend that parents continue to wear face coverings on the
school site when dropping off and collecting their children.
End of the school day: Thank you for your support with our routines at the end of the school day and for maintaining a safe distance from other parents as you wait to collect your child.
We appreciate that our site becomes very congested but please support us by moving quickly around the school
building and not blocking the walkway. Maintaining a clear path means that classes can move safely to wait with
their teachers and parents can collect their children and walk around the building to leave the school site.
General controls: Please help to keep our school community safe by not sending children to school if they are
showing coronavirus symptoms or are unwell; book a test if you or your child develop symptoms. There is no
national recommendation for primary aged children to have regular LFT testing, however as you are aware it is
locally recommended that all children attending a primary school also test regularly
P.E will start in school next week and we would like to remind

Year 5 will be starting their swimming lesson on Wednesday
15th September and should wear their P.E kit to school each
