• Earsdon Govening Body

  We need your help to recruit two new governors! We are very fortunate to be supported and challenged by a very dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled Governing Board which currently includes six parent governors. The Governing Board has two co-opted governor vacancies and they are hoping to recruit two new governors from our local community. Co-opted governors are people who in the opinion of the Governing Board have the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school. At this time the Governing Board would particularly (but not exclusively) welcome someone with experience in health and safety or building surveying and someone to represent the
  BAME community. Interested volunteers will be co-opted on to the board by the Governing body rather than through an election ,as is the case with parents governors. We are not currently looking to elect parent governors but instead are hoping that parents will help us to recruit two new co-opted members.

  
  Please encourage any friends, neighbours, local businesses or community members to support our school by becoming part of our Governing Board. Governors are asked to attend one meeting each half term and can get involved with a variety of other activities and projects within school if they feel able. • Breakfast and OSC

  We would like to request that parents register for OSC places for September 2021 by next Friday- 28th May. The registration forms have been sent out via the Gateway, but if you need any help please contact Mrs Ross in the school office. We are starting to plan for the new school year and need to know pupil numbers for OSC so we can secure the appropriate level of staffing. Thank you
   

• Donations to school

  We are extremely grateful to all of the parents who have made very generous donations to school over the last few weeks. When we embarked upon our Living Walls project, we asked for donations of plants and were thrilled with the response we received and in addition the kindness of the parents who have also been supporting school by looking after our garden. Since then we have received several generous donations of toys for After School Club, books for the classrooms, old uniform for the preloved uniform sale as well as a very kind donation of several litres of hand sanitiser from a parent this week. We are very grateful for all of your kindness and support and are thrilled that you have been so keen to help our children and school
   

• Covid - 19 update

  Face coverings
  Thank you for continuing to wear a face covering on the school site. We recognise that this may be frustrating for families as we are outside, however schools have been encouraged to continue to act cautiously to try to protect everyone within the community and as such face coverings remain part of our COVID assessment. COVID symptoms and testing. Thank you for keeping us well informed when your child has to self isolate or has started to become unwell with COVID19 symptoms.

  
  Following on from the letter from the LA last week and the update on the weekly newsletter, we would like to
  take this opportunity to remind parents that if anyone in your household starts to display any of the COVID symptoms, please book a PCR test and ensure all of the household remain at home until you have received the results of this test (and continue to remain at home if the test result is positive).

  
  Lateral Flow tests should not be used if a child or household member has a cough or a fever– they are only appropriate to use in asymptomatic people. The letter dated 14th May from the LA and Public Health England has now been translated into a variety of languages—these will be sent home to families today.
  Arrangements at the end of the day. Whilst we recognise that the site and pavement outside school becomes very congested at the end of the day, we would like to encourage parents waiting for Year 5 or Year 6 children to wait away from the gate to ensure
  that others can use the pavement safely. It has been brought to our attention that parents with prams have been unable to use the pavement and have had to move onto the road to pass by the those waiting by the car park gate.

• Year 6 Gardening Club

  Year 6 have started their gardening club. Not only has our school started to blossom with sunflowers on the windows, but you will have started to noticed many more plants, hanging baskets and flower pots have started to appear around school. Thank you to Mrs Andrews for organising and supporting our children. 

  

• Covid-19 Update

  Thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we work together to keep our school community safe. We continue to follow guidance from the Department for Education, Public Health England and the Local Authority and have circulated a letter to parents today from the LA providing further information
  on the local picture and national guidance. Despite the relaxation of restrictions as part of the governments roadmap, there has been very little change to the national guidance and schools are
  being encouraged to remain vigilant and continue with our systems of controls to help manage infection rates. This means we will be maintaining the staggered finish times at the end of the school day, one way systems and encouraging parents to wear face coverings on the school site until we receive further information. In addition, we would like to remind parents to arrange a test if your child develops symptoms and inform school
  of the result as well as ensuring that the whole household isolates when a household member is awaiting a result
  and continue this isolation if the test result is positive. Thank you very much for your ongoing support– we recognise that it continues to be a difficult time for everyone within the school community. Furthermore we appreciate that some aspects of our school risk assessment can be frustrating for families and we would like to extend our thanks to you as you continue to wear face coverings on the school site and for your patience as you wait to collect your children at the end of the day. • Year 1 Land Art

  This week Year 1 about the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy and thoroughly enjoyed making their own ‘land art’ outside. We were so impressed by the children’s co-operation and team skills- they worked together brilliantly to make some amazing sculptures.

• Summer of Sunflowers

  We are delighted to be taking part in Coventry’s Summer of Sunflowers project. In school all of the children have been planting sunflowers which will be placed at the front of the building for the community to enjoy. In addition, this week the
  children have brought home sunflowers seeds to plant so that families can also get involved. Earlsdon Library have additional packets of sunflower seeds if you would like to encourage other friends and neighbours to get involved. The team behind this community project would like the children to paint sunflower pictures and display them in their windows or take them to be displayed in Earlsdon Library. Keep an eye on the front of the school as the children will be decorating the classroom windows!
