In response to new government guidance we are currently
reviewing our Attendance Policy. The new guidance stresses
the importance of good attendance for all children to support their attainment, wellbeing and wider life chances.
When a child’s attendance falls below 90% this is a cause for
concern for schools and local authorities– 10% absence
equates to a child being absent for 1 day or more a fortnight
across a full school year. Please note that the new DfE guidance also states that leave of absence should only be granted in exceptional circumstances, and as such, in line with our current Attendance Policy, leave of absence will not be granted for the purpose of a family holiday. (Each application for leave of absence will be considered individually.)

Spruce up Our Streets
22nd/ 23rd October- A date for your diary
Last year South Earlsdon Neighbours Association identified a weekend when we could devote some time for caring for our local area. You may remember how many of our friends and neighbours took the opportunity to ‘Spruce up their Street’.
We would like to repeat this enterprise and informally invite individuals and community groups from the wider Earlsdon area to join this initiative. The idea is to set aside the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of October to focus on activities such as hedge trimming, car washing, litter picking, kerb and gutter clearing, bulb planting, branch trimming etc… any activity that spruces up your own street and gives everyone the chance for a neighbourly chat and perhaps an opportunity to lend a neighbourly hand. We will be posting photos of ‘sprucing’ activities on our SENA Facebook page that weekend so do join in and let us know what you are up to.

If your child does not already have a school lunch on Thursday and you would like them to enjoy the Italian themed day, they can place their order on the day, at registration. If you pay for your child’s school meals, the cost is £2.15 which can be paid via Schoolcomms. |
| We are delighted to be continuing with our Changemakers pro gramme. We will be working with our partners at Finham Park 2, Riverbank Academy, Moseley Primary and Corpus Christi Primary to develop our Sports Leaders. The Changemakers had their first training at Finham Park 2 last Friday and we were very impressed with their enthusiasm and teamwork skills. |
The official opening of the Coventry Robotics Hub was held last Friday. This is a joint venture between Earlsdon and King Henry VIII School. The hub will be open to all Coventry schools who will be able to use it to extend and enrich their robotics education.

Following the announcement that the Queen’s funeral will be held on19th September 2022, Earlsdon Primary School will be closed on Monday. Across the school during the last week we have spent time reflecting on Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s life and the huge impact that she has had on the people within theUnited Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the wider world.
We know that for some in our school community, the very sad news of the Queen’s death may bring to mind other bereavements amongst friends and family. If you require any additional support, please contact school using the parent email address.
Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have enjoyed their first active lunches this week. The pupils walk to Spencer Park one lunchtime each week. After their picnic lunch, they enjoy free time in the park, either playing sport or relaxing in the fresh air with their friends.
The pupils have been a real credit to the school and their behaviour, both on the walk to the park and whilst at the park, has been outstanding.
