  • Congratulations to our Book Fair competition winner

    Fri 27 Nov 2020
The book fair is in school and this year the children had to design their favourite front cover! Congratulations to our Year 2 winner, who won £5.00 to spend at the book fair - he was thrilled!
  • A change to Reception mornings

    Fri 27 Nov 2020

We continue to review procedures and our COVID-19 risk assessment and would like to make a change to the morning routine for the reception children and parents.

From Monday 30th November we will be
inviting the reception children into school between 8.45am—9am. Rather than waiting outside the school gate, we would like reception children and parents to enter the school site when they arrive in the morning and walk straight down to the reception outdoor area, where a member of the reception staff team will welcome the children in to school.

Now that the morning routines are more settled and working well for the children in year 1– year 6 we feel that it is a good time to make these changes to the routines for the reception children and hope this will reduce the time parents are waiting in the local area and on the school site in the morning.

The main school gate will continue to be opened at 8.40am so that the older children can wait on the school path rather than at the front of the school. The children will enter school from 8.45am and we will close the side gate and car park gate at 9am when the last reception children have entered school

  • Coats and warm clothes

    Fri 27 Nov 2020
As the weather becomes colder please ensure that all children bring a named coat to school and in addition wear a warm school uniform and P.E kit. We plan to take the children outside as much as possible, even when it is damp, and some of them have been unable to join their class mates as they have forgotten to wear a coat to school. We are continuing to keep the school well ventilated by opening windows and external
doors, and despite the heating being on it may be cooler than normal.

  • Christmas Celebrations in school

    Fri 27 Nov 2020

We are starting to plan our Christmas celebrations and activities in school and are delighted to inform you that we have organised the online Belgrade Theatre showing of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children will be watching this in their classrooms and the PTA will kindly be providing a snack and drink for
    all of the children.

Christmas lunch will be served in school on Wednesday 16th December. More information about the menu and the deadline for bookings will be sent home shortly.

We will also be supporting Save the Children Christmas jumper day on Wednesday 16th December, but please don’t buy a jumper especially for this occasion. We are very happy for the children to wear Christmas colours on this day if they
don’t have a jumper as we don’t want to create any additional financial pressure for families.

Each year group will also be organising additional Christmas celebrations which will be a little different this year due to COVID restrictions, but will hopefully still make the festive season fun for everyone.

We are hoping to make some large decorations for the front of our school but are in need of some Christmas baubles. If you have any spare baubles that you are happy to donate to school, they will be gratefully received. Thank you

  • Parent / Teacher consultations

    Fri 20 Nov 2020
Thank you for your engagement with the different approach to parent/ teacher consultations this term. Over several weeks class teachers have been able to have telephone conversations with the vast majority of parents and it has been wonderful to recognise and celebrate how well the children have settled into their new classes and routines. If you did not book a telephone appointment or were
unable to make the agreed time, please send an email to parent@earlsdon.coventry.sch.uk so a meeting can be arranged.

  • Book Fair

    Fri 20 Nov 2020

We are delighted that we are able to have the book fair in school, however we do recognise that the organisation of this event will be quite different this year. Unfortunately, we will not be able to invite families into school, but instead the children have brought home a browsing leaflet with the books that are available, and parents are asked to share this with their children and discuss which book they would like to buy.

A digital copy of the browsing leaflet has also been sent home; further details of how to pay and order books can be found at the end of this leaflet. Parents can choose to pre-pay for books
using three methods: phone payment (please include the transaction code) ,downloadable vouchers https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/gift-vouchers or
cheques/ cash. Please note that NO CHANGE can be offered. If you are providing cash, please put the correct amount in a sealed envelope with your child's name and class clearly written on it. The children will then visit the book fair with their classmates and collect the book that they have pre-bought/ ordered. The children are visiting the book fair in school on these days:
    Thursday 26th November– Year 1 & Year 2

Friday 27th November - Reception classes
    Monday 30th November—Year 3 & Year 4

    Tuesday 1st December—Year 5 & Year 6

Please support the book fair– when families buy books the school earns commission to spend on books for our
classrooms. Last year we spent over £1000.00 on new books from money raised by the book fair
