  • Christmas Celebrations

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

As parents are aware from recent correspondence, we will be enjoying Christmas lunch and Christmas jumper day on
Tuesday 13th December. Parents will shortly receive the Christmas lunch menu and information on how to book a meal for your child if they are in KS2 (Reception and KS1 children will automatically be served a Christmas lunch as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meal provision). We are inviting children to come to school wearing a Christmas jumper or clothes in Christmas colours e.g. red, green, silver, gold etc. Alternatively, if families do not celebrate Christmas we would love the children to come to school wearing some of their own cultural clothing. There is no expectation that parents buy a Christmas jumper or items of clothing for this day, but if your son or daughter does want to dress for the occasions and you are
able to make a small donation, we will be collecting money for the Coventry charity Children’s Christmas Wish List

  • Attendance

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

As you are aware, in response to new government guidance we have reviewed our Attendance Policy. DfE guidance stresses the importance of good attendance for all children to support their attainment, wellbeing and wider life chances. When a
child’s attendance falls below 90% this is a cause for concern for schools and local authorities– 10% absence equates to a child being absent for 1 day or more a fortnight across a full school year. Please note that the new DfE guidance also states that leave of absence should only be granted in exceptional circumstances, and as such holidays taken during
term time will not be authorised. If leave of absence is unauthorised by the school, the government requires the school to follow up such absences with a Penalty
Notice Fine of £60 to each parent and for each child. (Collection of the fine is not administered by the school and the money collected is not given to the school.) If a parent thinks that their leave of absence request is due to exceptional circumstances,
they should contact school without delay and before arrangements are entered into or money is committed.
A leave of absence request form is available from the school office or from the school website.

  • PTA News

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

Thank you to the PTA for hosting three discos for the children next Tuesday– 29th November. The discos each last one hour and the entrance fee will include a drink and a snack for each child. Children must be signed into the discos through the main school entrance and collected at the end of the disco from the Year 2 door at the front of the school. Please note that even if Year 6 children usually walk home independently from
school , they must be collected by an adult from the disco. The deadline for registration is Monday 28th November so if your child wants to attend, please complete the registration form via this link and submit the £2 entry fee per child into the box in reception: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScGKb8n8xfHELkRCmww9U3kZo4KfmVuVu_LQBkgSS9kAcc6dA/viewform

The children do not need to bring any money to the disco and must not bring any electronic devices including phones and
smart watches. We are looking forward to a fun evening and to seeing the children’s dance moves!

KS1 pupils have had the opportunity to submit their favourite names for the Elves as part of the Earlsdon Elves competition takingplace on Earlsdon High Street between 16th November - 7th December. They are called Candy Cane and Rose Diamond! There has also been a special Elf, Tinsel, visiting school this week. Congratulations to the Brommer family for winning Santa’s Grotto tickets ahead of the Christmas Fayre taking place on the High Street between 4-8pm on the 8th December.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

  • Christmas Donations

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

To continue our work as a School of Sanctuary, we would
like to support refugees this winter by collecting donations of boxes of chocolates, selection boxes, tubes of sweets and toiletry sets. The Carriers of Hope will then distribute these to families across the city.

  • School Events and Charity

    Fri 11 Nov 2022
Thank you for your support with the recent History day– the children looked amazing and we all learnt about many influential people including famous scientist, artists, musicians, writers, sports people and those who have brought about change in environmental issues or social justice. We recognise that it is a very busy half term and there are several events that happen
nationally and also school specific events that are planned. As the children were invited to dress up last Monday and later in the term they will have a non uniform day and a
Christmas jumper day, we won’t be dressing up for Children in Need this year. Instead we will be selling Pudsey Bear ears for £2.50 and families are welcome to send in their loose change if they would like to make a small donation. Thank you for your ongoing support

  • Anti-bullying week

    Fri 11 Nov 2022
Monday 14th November marks the start of Anti Bullying Week and this year’s theme is Reach Out. We are inviting the children to wear odd socks to school on Monday to celebrate what makes
us all unique. (If your child wear tights to school,
we would like to encourage them to pop
their odd socks on top of their tights!)

  • Poppy Display

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

Thank you to the group of parents who, with the help of
the children from across school, created the beautiful
poppy display again this year. Thank you– it really is eye
    catching!

  • Schools Remembrance

    Fri 11 Nov 2022
On Wednesday all pupils in Years 3,4 and 5 attended the
Coventry Schools' Remembrance Service at the War Memorial
Park. A special thank you to our Coventry Young Ambassadors
who looked after all schools and dignitaries.

  • Giant Map

    Fri 11 Nov 2022
Last week we were invited to send a team of geographers to
Templars Primary School to take part in a giant Ordnance Survey map challenge. The children had a brilliant morning and were able to use the map skills that they learnt earlier this year at
    Dol-Y-Moch
