  • Morning Routines

    Fri 16 Dec 2022
As many parents are aware, we open the side gate at
8.40am so that the children can wait on the school
path rather than on Earlsdon Avenue North.
The school day begins at 8.45am and the children
from breakfast club and those who arrive at this time
walk into school, put their belongings away and then
    start their early morning challenges.
School staff are on the path from 8.40am—9am to
welcome children into school. The side gate will close
    at 9am.
At 9am classroom registers and meal choices for
lunchtime are taken; lessons begin straight after this
    has been completed.
If children arrive after 9am they will have to sign in
through the main school entrance and they will miss
their early morning challenges which may include
completing learning from the previous day, practising
key maths facts, spellings and handwriting.
We would like to encourage families to arrive just
after 8.45am to give the children time to put away
their belongings, complete an early morning task and
feel settled and ready for the day ahead.
Thank you for your continued support

  • Celebrations around the world

    Fri 09 Dec 2022

When many of us think of December, we often think about Christmas, but this month is host to a range of other festivals and celebrations. Saint Nicholas Day is one of the celebrations in December that is observed throughout much of Europe, usually on the 5th or 6th of December. This festival celebrates a Christian bishop called Saint Nicholas of Myra. In some countries, Saint Nicholas Day is seen as a much more important festival than Christmas, and people celebrate this important day in lots of ways. Bodhi Day, also known as Rōhatsu in Japan, is a Buddhist holiday that takes place each year on the 8th of December. It marks the day that Siddhārtha Gautama, a
central figure within Buddhism who is also known as the Buddha, is said to have achieved enlightenment.
Hanukkah is a festival that’s celebrated by Jewish people, taking
place around late November to December. One of the best known celebrations in December, this festival has its origins in
events that happened over 2,000 years ago.
Pancha Ganapati is one of the more recent celebrations in December, having been celebrated since 1985. Originally created as a Hindu alternative to Christmas by a
religious leader called Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, it takes place over five days from the 21st to the 25th of December

  • Christmas Events

    Fri 09 Dec 2022

Thank you to the parents and family members who
were a fantastic audience at the Year 1 and 2 Christ
mas Singalong this week. The children really enjoyed
performing to their grown ups! Thank you also to the
parents who very kindly made a donation to support
Earlsdon Methodist Church. On Tuesday we will be enjoying our Christmas lunch and the children are invited to come to school wearing their Christmas jumpers, clothes in Christmas
colours or their own cultural clothing. If you are able
to make a small donation as part of this non uniform
day, we are collecting for a local charity- Children’s
Christmas Wish List. Thank you in advance for your
    generosity and support.

We are delighted that we have been invited to hold
our end of term assembly at St Barbara's church on
Friday 16th December. The children in Year 1– Year 6
will be walking up to St Barbara's straight after regis
tration; we are looking forward to gathering together
as we don’t have this opportunity in school.
