This is where you will find all of the information that will keep you up to date with our latest events!
We are looking forward to welcoming back all of the children on Monday 8th March.
We will be reviewing our COVID-19 risk assessment over the next few days and will remind parents next week of some of the key arrangements in relation to the beginning and end of the day and what the children need to bring to school.
Thank you for your continued support with the children's remote learning. We recognise that it has been difficult for children and families to re-start their learning at home after the half term break. We hope that the children will be able to engage with the daily learning next week including accessing recorded and live lessons and continuing to share their learning on j2e or through the parent email.
Out of School Club
If you plan to use Breakfast club and / or After School club when the children return to school, we would like to remind you to book the sessions you require by the Wednesday of the previous week so that we can organise the necessary staffing levels.
School Meals
When the children return to school they will continue to order their school meal choices during the morning registration session. However, to support this process it is important that the children stick to the same meal pattern. For example, if your child usually has a packed lunch on Monday and Tuesday and then school meals for the rest of the week, they must stick to the same pattern every week. If changes do need to be made, it is important that parents inform the school office a few days in advance. Thank you for your support.
We are very excited to have been awarded a small grant to take part in a “Living Walls” research project, with the Royal Society of Education and a STEM partner from University of Loughborough. The project will involve researching the impact on children’s well-being when learning in a greener and more natural environment, both in the classroom and outdoors.
We now need lots of plants, so if you have green fingers or have family or friends who would be willing to donate a plant or seeds, we would be very grateful! Below is a list of plants that have been tested by NASA to 'grow fresh air' :
Areca Palm, Dragon Tree, Anthurium, Snake Plant, Aloe Vera, Heart-leaf philodendron, Spider Plant, Succulents.
We are also hoping to grow strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes and add some colour with the use of bedding plants. Your support in growing a greener environment at school would be very welcome.
SEMH&L Dyslexia/Literacy difficulty- virtual ‘Drop in’ session for parents
Wednesday 3rd March 1:00- 2:30
This will be an opportunity to join a live session and ask two specialist dyslexia teachers from SEMH&L team, specific questions or receive advice and suggestions on how to support your child.
This could be both parents of children with an identification of dyslexia or parents supporting children who are struggling with dyslexia type literacy difficulties.
If you have specific concerns or areas you would like the team to cover in the session, please email Miss Higgs in advance.
Kelly, Molly's owner, sent this message to us this week:
To all the children and staff at Earlsdon primary.
Hello just a message to say Molly hasn’t forgotten her team of children and her uniform is ironed and ready to go. She misses all her treats and fusses from you but is enjoying home schooling her own 'human' children. She has to go up every morning and get her 7 year old brother washed- after lots of licks he's ready to start school! She watches over both of them just in case any snacks drop on to the floor (its very handy)!
Here are some photos of Molly and her sister Pippa enjoying the snow. Pippa is currently in training and will be assessed after lockdown to see if she can become a therapy dog just like her big sister Molly.
We miss you all but will see you soon.
Kelly and Molly x
Thank you to everyone who has already participated in the Go Parks challenge- we were excited to see that we had moved up to 4th place on the leader board so well done and keep it up!!!
As you know the Schools Challenge will run throughout February and schools are competing against each other - the most active schools over the month will be rewarded! The information below provides an explanation of how the schools challenge works:
Thank you for all of your support and the children's contribution to our Very Hungry Caterpillar display. The balcony and windows are looking very colourful - we hope the children enjoy the display when they are out in the local area.
The assemblies in Key Stage 2 this week focussed on encouraging the children to express themselves, which is the theme of Children's Mental Health Week 2021. The Oak National Academy and Children's BAFTA have produced a mental health week assembly which can be accessed through the latest news section of our website. In addition, in the pastoral section of the website you will find ideas on how to support your child's well-being, mental health and also some guidance for children who are dealing with bereavement. Please contact school if you need any further guidance or support.
