  • World Book Day and the weeks events

    Fri 18 Feb 2022

World Book day – Thursday 3rd March 2022

We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day in school with a range of activities during the week beginning 28th  February. We are thrilled that we continue to have a strong    relationship with Earlsdon Library and that all of the children will have the opportunity to visit our local library during this week and enjoy a wide range of books. In addition, we will be inviting the children to come to school dressed as a word of their choice and to participate in and enjoy a bring and buy book sale.

    Bring and Buy Book sale

Thank you to everyone who has donated books for the bring and buy book sale. We would like to be able to offer books to all age groups so please hunt out any books suitable for ages 4-11 years – thank you. Each class will have the opportunity to visit the pre-loved book sale during the week beginning 28th February. Each book bought will cost 50p; a great way to encourage your child to read for pleasure without spending too many pennies!

Dressing up on Thursday 3rd March

We are inviting all children to come to school dressed as a word on Thursday 3rd March.              Vocabulary is the focus of this day; rather than book characters or story characters we would love children to dress up as a word. For example, a child could dress up as an ‘aquarium’ and have fish attached to them. Another child might want to be their favourite superhero and their word could be ‘strong’ or ‘heroic’. Other examples children have chosen in the past include dressing up as a ‘calculator’ and or as ‘illuminate’. We cannot wait to see the children dressed up with their word attached to them.   Thank you for your ongoing support and for making World Book Day a special event in school.

  • Commonwealth Games

    Tue 15 Feb 2022
Our ‘Changemakers’ met with Paralympian Liz Johnson for a
leadership training session. She was especially interested to find out about the sports club that they have been leading under the
    supervision of Mr Gascoyne.

  • Birminham Botanical Gardens

    Tue 15 Feb 2022

Last Friday, Year 6 had a brilliant day visiting Birmingham Botanical Gardens. They learnt about how plants are adapted to survive in different environments and made art using natural materials.

  • Royal Opera House

    Tue 15 Feb 2022

Year 5 and 6 had a great time participating in an online Alice
in Wonderland dance workshop run by the Royal Opera
House. We were very pleased to welcome their film crew
who came up from London to interview some of our pupils.
Next week some of our staff are taking part in dance
training run by the Royal Opera House in preparation for a
    city-wide dance project.

  • World Book Day and the weeks events

    Wed 09 Feb 2022

During the week beginning 28th February we will be celebrating World Book Day in school with a range of book related activities and events. For example throughout the week the children will be visiting Earlsdon library to share and read a range of books together. Alongside this we are inviting all children to take part in a bring and buy book sale. We will be encouraging all children to come to school with one or two preloved books that they are happy to donate as well as with 50p to spend. During the week the children will have an opportunity to purchase a preloved
book. The money raised will go towards replenishing the school books that have been lost during the course of the pandemic. You will receive more information about how your child can donate and purchase some preloved books.

In addition, we are inviting all children to come to school dressed as a word on Thursday 3rd March. Vocabulary is the focus of this day; rather than book characters or story characters we would love children to dress up as a word. For example, a child could dress up as an ‘aquarium’ and have fish attached to
them. Another child might want to be their favourite superhero and their word could be ‘strong’ or ‘heroic’. Other examples children have chosen in the past include dressing up as a ‘calculator’ and or as ‘illuminate’. We cannot wait to
see the children dressed up with their word attached to them.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for helping us celebrate World Book Day in school this year

  • World Book Day Pre loved book sale

    Wed 09 Feb 2022

We will be holding a bring and buy book sale during the week of World Book Day. To prepare for this exciting event we would love you to search through your unwanted children’s books and donate them to school by 18th February. We would like to be a book sale without books, so we will be relying on your able to offer books to all age groups so please hunt out
any books suitable for ages 4-11 years. Obviously, we can’t hold generosity to make this work. We will be offering each class an opportunity to visit the pre-loved book sale, please look at the timetable below to see when your child’s class will visit.
Each book bought will be 50p; a great way to encourage your child to read for pleasure and enjoyment without spending too many pennies!
