The Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge has been developed to encourage children to keep active in local parks with parents/support bubbles during lockdown (whilst still following social distancing and travel rules). Schools will compete against each other from 1st – 28th February and the most active schools over the month will be rewarded! By scanning a QR code on a walk, run, scoot or cycle in a participating park, children can earn points for their school with each visit.
To take part you will need to look out for the QR code which will be located on a banner or on a poster in local parks. You will then need to:
Other family members can also enter and support our school. Anyone entering, must be 18 years or older – this parent, guardian or bubble member will then pledge their points to our school. Entries are unlimited for the duration of the challenge - but you can only enter once a day. The QR codes are located in a mixture of 33 local parks and green spaces around the city. The organisers are encouraging families to stay local and not to make unnecessary travel, but to incorporate this challenge into daily exercise.
We plan to take part in the Earlsdon Window Wanderland and would like to decorate our school balcony and windows with fairy lights and butterflies.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is the theme of our display and we would like to encourage the children to contact their teachers on J2E or via parent mail with a message to go on the butterflies. Each class will have its own butterfly and the children's messages will be written on them- the messages could include words of support for the people of our community. In addition, if you are feeling inspired by the idea of this story display and would like to contribute more, please feel free to make tissue paper flowers and food for the school window display.
We will place a Hungry Caterpillar box outside the school gate between 9am and 3pm and we would love the children to deliver their window display artwork – the box will be available from Monday 1st until the morning of Wednesday 10th February. Thank you for your continued support- we hope that we will be able to create an eye-catching display for everyone to enjoy during their daily exercise.
Coventry Education Psychology Team will be running a FREE Emotion Coaching session for parents on Thursday 11th February. Emotion coaching is an approach that parents can use with children and young people to support their emotional development- it is an approach that we use in school. This session will introduce the steps of Emotion Coaching and its scientific basis and will involve practical activities and resource sharing so that parents can begin to use this increasingly popular approach straight away. To request an invite or for further information please contact SEND Information Advice and Support Service Tel: 02476694307 or email: iass@coventry.gov.uk

Please look out for your child's Teams invitation to a year group assembly. 'Hope' will be the theme of next week's assembly and we will be sharing a story from The Book of Hope- a collection of children's stories and poems collated during the pandemic.
As you may remember we were awarded the new Coventry Peace Award in December in recognition that the theme of peace and reconciliation is embedded within our curriculum and that we work hard to support the children's understanding of their responsibility as local and global citizens. Our local friend Ray and the local community group are continuing to put the trails up in the woods on Beechwood Avenue. This week is flags and then it is changing to capital cities. There is even a special one going up during Valentines week.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that it is important to ensure that passwords for children are differentiated from other users, but please remember to keep a note of log-in and passwords when you change them for your child.
