We are very excited to have been awarded a small
grant to take part in a “Living Walls” research project,
with the Royal Society of Education and a STEM partner from University of Loughborough. The project will involve researching the impact on children’s well-being when learning in a greener and more natural environment, both in the classroom and outdoors. We now need lots of plants, so if you have green fingers or have family or friends who would be willing to donate a plant or seeds, we would be very grateful!
Below is a list of plants that have been tested by NASA to 'grow fresh air' : Areca Palm, Dragon Tree, Anthurium, Snake Plant, Aloe Vera, Heart-leaf philodendron, Spider Plant, Succulents.
We are also hoping to grow strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes and add some colour with the use of bedding plants. Your support in growing a greener environment at school
would be very welcome.
This year’s Shakespeare Week, organised by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, carries the theme of wellbeing. We are looking forward to taking part in a range of virtual activities as this annual celebration aims to use Shakespeare’s works and his language to inspire children and help support their emotional well being. |
Unfortunately we are still not able to welcome parents into school and as a result the Spring term parents consultations will take place over the phone rather than face to face. These telephone meetings are planned over two weeks– 22nd March to 1st April. The school office will send an email next week inviting you to book an appointment using the online booking system. Appointments will last 10 minutes and class teachers will be calling parents from a mobile phone which may register on your screen as an unknown number– please look out for this around the time of your appointment |

This February and March we are offering free online workshops for parents of children who stammer, and for 12 to 18 year-olds who stammer. This is thanks to a grant from the Pears Foundation, part of the Government's £750m charities package.
We are holding the workshops on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Each one will be led by speech & language therapists who specialise in working with children and young people who stammer and their parents.
Workshop for parents of primary school-aged children (aged 4-11)
Saturday 20th March, 9:30am-12noon
or
Monday 29th March, 6:30pm-9pm
The aim of this workshop is to help you as parents of children aged 4-11 understand why your child's stammer may have increased or started during the last year. They will look at the impact that lockdowns, intermittent school attendance and reduced social interactions may have had on them stammering.
Get more information and register for the Workshop for parents of primary school-aged children (aged 4-11).
Morning routines
Routines at the end of the school day
We recognise that parents have to queue to collect their children at the end of the day and would like to thank you for your patience with this.
We would also like to remind parents to wear face coverings on the school site and to ensure that they remain socially distanced from other families. We have changed the routines for some of the classes at the end of the day so please check the information below:
Please remember that we are operating a one-way system and that the playground and site becomes very congested at the end of the day. As a result we would like to request that families collect their children and leave the site promptly. Thank you for your support in helping us to keep our community safe.
Please email or phone school if you would like to ask any questions or share some information.
To prevent parents from gathering in the main school reception, we would like to remind families to use the black post box by the main school door to drop off dinner money or any written communication.
