On Thursday 23rd Reception children will be taking part in Elmer day, so they are invited to wear multicoloured clothes to school to celebrate 35 years of Elmer. We welcome the rest of the children to wear comfy clothes for Book Trust and can bring their favourite book to school, to share with their peers. £1.00 donations will be going to our charity of choice.

• Year 5 and 6 Royal Opera House Dance project

Wed 08 Dec 2021

We really enjoyed watching a Royal Opera House live rehearsal that was streamed for Coventry schools involved in a city-wide dance project. It was lovely to hear the dancers answer questions that some of our pupils had submitted. We are looking forward to starting the dance work linked to Romeo and Juliet in the Spring term.

• Commonwealth Games Project

Wed 01 Dec 2021
Our Year 5 and 6 Changemakers went to the University of Birmingham on Thursday to work with nine other lead schools from across the West Midlands. They took part in Sports Leader training that was led by five Olympic and Paralympic mentor athletes, including Liz Johnson who is our mentor athlete for the Commonwealth Games. The children were excellent ambassadors for Earlsdon and Coventry.

• Window Replacement

Wed 01 Dec 2021

We are pleased to inform you that the City Council have secured a significant grant which means that our very old
wooden windows can be replaced at no cost to the school.
As our building is locally listed, the windows need to be replaced with wooden frames which have had to be individually
made. The first phase of the windows are now ready for installation and the contractors will be on site from next week to start this work. We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to parents while the contractors are working in our school. We fully appreciate the difficulties that this will cause but are looking forward to having the work done
and to the improvements this will bring to our lovely building.
Thank you for your patience and understanding

• Robotics Competition

Wed 01 Dec 2021
Our Year 5 robotics teams participated in their first major tournament on Monday at King Henry V111 School. They were competing against pupils from King Henry’s and from NUAST in
Nottingham. All other pupils were in Years 7 – 9. Our teams were amazing - one team came third overall out of 20 teams and another team won the overall Design Award. We are already
looking forward to the next tournament, which we will be hosting at Earlsdon in January.

• P.E Update

Wed 01 Dec 2021
We are very proud of the Year 5 children who have just finished their block of swimming lessons and have all made progress. The children have enjoyed their weekly lessons and have been super ambassadors for our school as they have listened well and been polite and well behaved in the changing rooms and around the sports centre. Year 5 will now have their P.E lessons on Thursday starting from next week (Thursday 2nd December).
Thank you to all of the families who are supporting our P.E uniform policy by sending their children into school wearing
P.E sports clothes in our school colours. Unfortunately we are starting to see some children wearing sweatshirts and hoodies which are not navy, grey or black and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the children should be wearing black, grey or navy jogging bottoms or leggings, a white or navy t-shirt and a plain black, grey or navy sweatshirt/hoodie to school on their P.E day– please do not buy any additional clothing as the children can wear their school uniform t-shirt and sweatshirt.
